Insomnia, Unrestful Sleep
Do you have insomnia and unrestful sleep? Too many of us these days are going to bed stressed, our minds are on overdrive – worrying about the future, regretting the past. We can lie awake in bed for hours, trying to force ourselves to sleep. By practicing soft and gentle breathing exercises, we can allow a calm and relaxed mind right before sleep – the Buteyko method has excellent feedback amongst insomnia sufferers. Are you breathing with your mouth during the night? If we breathe through the mouth, we release too much carbon dioxide (CO2) – an important gas, which is fundamental in delivering oxygen from the blood to the cells. If the brain doesn’t receive the necessary oxygen levels it requires, it can become excitable and is likely to prevent you from getting a deep sleep during the night.
Poor sleep in individuals has been strongly linked to decreased longevity and life expectancy, so it is important that we maximise the quality of our sleep.
The Breathe Buteyko course can help to prevent snoring, sleep apnoea, insomnia and allow a gentle relaxed and deep sleep, allowing us to feel awake, alert and ready for the day upon waking.
